Can’t Decide — Should I Get This Bobcat Mounted?

The X24 pulled the small cat in on Cagey Cottontail, then a couple stands later I hit Pup Screams… and this big, spotted tom came slinking in. They made it through Valentine’s Day—just to have their hearts broken.

This was a heavy cat with some of the nicest spots I’ve shot in a long time. I haven’t taken a cat to a taxidermist in probably 15 years — I’m still deciding, but I’m seriously considering having this one mounted. Prices have gotten insane lately, though. If I do it, I want someone who does cat mounts right — does anyone know of a great cat taxidermist in NW Oklahoma?

Thats a beautiful cat. Yes id get it mounted!

looks like you got settled in to Houston. How is Margaret liking it?
Well, Jeremy, its a nice facility, food's great, staff, too, but can't say much for the view.

However, if you can ignore the foreground, it shares the same beautiful sunsets that we had at home.

Back when they were done, prices were more palatable, about $1500 or so.

This one is the center piece, can't recall exactly how much, but wasn't a whole lot more.

Had to go with a walking type form, only way to fit with an 8' ceiling.

Yeah, if i dispatched that i would definately want to keep something as a trophy. I would have told the taxidermist i wanted the skull back.

here is something i got mounted several years ago;

I get what you’re saying.

Throughout history — especially in doomsday prophecies and apocalyptic writings — big cities have often been used as symbols of human pride, excess, and moral drift. They’re portrayed as places that grow powerful and self-reliant, only to eventually collapse under their own weight or get “shaken” to make way for something new.

Whether someone believes those prophecies literally or just sees them as metaphors, there’s something about big cities that can feel disconnected — busy, loud, and built on constant striving. A lot of people are starting to question whether that pace and environment is really how we’re meant to live.

Sometimes simpler feels steadier — and being able to look out beyond it all toward the sunrise is its own kind of escape.😇

I have the skull, I posted a pic of it with a black bear skull for comparison.

Badgers make a cool mount, tough to get one in the Badger state though.

Bobcat would make a nice bookend.

A year or so ago we called in a coyote with a badger trailing, I tried telling my partner they hunt together. I don’t think he believed me
Many years ago while deer hunting I happened upon a coyote and badger fighting over a prairie dog mound. I guess they both wanted to dig that little sucker up for dinner. They were so engrossed in fighting each other they didn't pay attention to me getting close enough to kill the coyote with an muzzleloader. I wasn't licensed for furbearers then, so the badger got the last word by wooling on that dead coyote for about a minute before strolling off in a huff.
