Quick after work stand

Well I can't just let Lou have the burden of representing the great white north all by himself so here's a quick stand from yesterday.
With all our swath grazing used up it's the time of year where I have to feed a whole lot of hay bales to our cows. While doing this yesterday I couldn't help but notice the vast amount of tracks on the fresh white snow. Like my thoughts had summoned them I looked up to see a pair watching me from afar. The tractor didn't bother them as they slowly wandered around as I fed. When I finished they had crossed the road and were now heading north into a section of rolling hills.
Blue is where I was feeding cows.
White is the path I had watched the coyotes take
Red is where I setup.

Having fed faster than I was planning I had a bit of time before my wife expected me home which i took as good enough reason to go for it 😂
Reached into the truck for my camo which usually lives in the truck til spring and what do ya know I took it all out when we had no snow. sure enough the FoxPro remote was also in that bag.
Oh well I guess I'm going old school today.
With only Carhartt pants and jacket for camo I slung the lanyard of handcalls over my neck and marched off into the hills.
As I neared the spot to setup I mentally kicked myself for leaving the snow gear behind. My usual practice of setting up against a snowbank wouldn't work and all the scrub brush was low on the hills. I setup in a patch of scrub. If coyotes tried to wind me I would need to catch them way out or get them with the shotgun.

The hills just left of the large bush is where I had been feeding cows.

I started out with some lone howls. Then after 3 min I did some more on a different howler. No takers except for some distant howls way off in the hills.
With nothing coming to howls I switched it up and let rip some mournful bunny blues on my compact meatbawl call which is rapidly becoming my favorite distress.
I sat calling on and off for a good 5 min and shockingly still nothing.
I scanned around looking and looking and then finally a far scan over my shoulder revealed a coyote sitting on the hillside.
A few lip squeaks only confirmed my suspicions as she sat down. She had me pegged
Ever so slowly I turned and turned and turned until finally I was in line and was able to make the 200 yard shot.
Back on the howler I let out a pile of kiyi's and what I can only assume as this females mate lit up and barking and angry. I tried a bunch of things to break him out into the open but never did see him.

On the walk back I saw a set of tracks that crossed over mine and did an immediate whirl around and back the way it came. While I was turned around busy calling to the dead coyotes mate I had completely missed the coyote that had come across the open right into shotgun range. 🤦🏻‍♂️
