I have had rear brake lines get broken or ripped a couple of times. Made for interesting drives home. This one was the first.
Had the hardline from the rear axle junction block to one wheel get torn off a couple days earlier. Five of us in my '74 single cab. With all our very meager amount at the time camping gear, and all our deer. The two little brothers of my two friends got to ride in the bed. I felt bad for them when I was full throttle through a long silt bed, but, not too bad

.
Hammered the broken line coming from the wheel fat to pinch it off. At the junction block on the axle I took the hard line off and melted a plastic spoon into the threaded opening to seal it off.
200 mile ride home at night. 70 miles of dirt to pavement (including one long silt bed). Several mountain passes to traverse. Brakes were kind of sketchy. Worst part, was the brake light square in my dash, for whatever reason, was missing the red lens. So it was just a white light shining in my face. At the first gas stop, I bought a black magic marker and blacked out the clear lens on the brake light. Left it like that for the 17 more years or so I daily drove that truck.
Things that seem like they were fun from a distance of time...
