Nice, I'm a 6.5 PRC fan.

I ordered my own reamer shortly after it was announced, & subsequently built two of them.

Had my fun, & sold both & my reamer, figuring my 6.5x47 Lapua would do all that I needed done.

Then I bought a 6.5 PRC Bergara Canyon last fall.......

Thanks guys. I just retired and I have two sons and one grandson so far. I decided to have a rifle built for each of them. Something so nice they’ll want to keep it and pass it down through their families. The 6.5 PRC is for the younger son. The older son is way deep in the thermal predator hunting scene so he wanted a 22 CM. My grandson, who just turned 1, told me he wanted a 7 PRC for smacking elk in about 12 years.😁 It was good for a laugh when the smith asked me if I wanted R or L handed for him. I hope he doesn’t turn out to be a lefty!

Meanwhile, I shoot Rugers, Remingtons and Savages and try to make them shoot like high-end customs.

AHHHH come on man get a "mans" gun ...... 7mm Remington Mag.... (so my son would say, LMAO, he got that blooming 7mm Mag from me some few years ago)
He refers to the CM's I have as "gaymores" I simply laugh and go ok. So I just will them to the daughter? The look and then the back peddling is priceless....
Best part is his wife (former Marine) shoots a 6.5CM
🤣 🤣 🤣

I must say that is one sexy looking Rifle. In what I think per the specs a really good cartridge, as I personally don't own one. Couple that with it appears to shoot as good as it looks. Color me green with envy

Man, every time I look at the clean 7 RM brass in my drawer it looks about the size of a tallboy Budweiser compared to the little cases I shoot now.😁 I have a cascade in7 PRC and I gotta say it feels about the same after 10 or twelve rounds as the 7 RM. the grandson better be big for his age.🙂

LOL yeah the son loves his, since I given it to him he has filled every tag, every year. Without ever tracking them. But then again I did teach him to shoot on a 30-06.

Now I'm down to the "wimpier" calibers, and having a blast with them on Varmints.
But serious Sir that is one fine rifle.

That’s a good looking gun and shoots damn fine as well. What stock colour is that? What speeds are you running with both bullets? I just wrapped up my 6.5 prc as well and shot a hell of a 3 shot group the other day waiting on a different barrel to cool.

Are the 2 loads really running the same amount of powder for both ? I see the bullet size was scratched off and changed.

There is 4 - 6.5 PRCs in our small group. A buddy just started working up a load for a couple of them. Still breaking in mine with factory ammo.

The cards are from the test firing from the builder. He shoots a 6.5PRC in PRS and he just cloned a couple of his favorite loads I guess. I did a work up with both bullets and both shot sub 1/2 MOA up and down the whole ladder at velocities from 2725-3000 fps. using H1000. For the 140 EH I settled on 56.5 grains at 2960 FPS. I got an SD of 5.9 and ES of 13 over ten shots with that one. With the 156 EH I settled on 54.5 grains at 2800 FPS. I got a spread of 19 and SD of 8 on that one over 10 shots with that one. I decided that was good enough and put it in the safe.

In the YMMV category, I had the rifle built specifically to shoot the 156 EH at 20 jump, so the mag is longer and the feed ramp is tweaked a little to feed the longer rounds. It also shoots a little wild from a clean barrel. After about 5-7 rounds it settles down. I have a CVA cascade in 6.5 PRC as well and it was a finicky little bi—- to load for. This rifle has been very easy to tune in comparison.

What are you guys using in your PRCs? H1000? Retumbo? 4831SC? Are the mid-range velocities where you’re finding the best accuracy?

-bighorn tl3. Short action
- 26” paradigm carbon barrel
- spearhead 5 port brake
- manners lrh
- tt diamond.
-Berger 156
The two loads worked up this winter are with n570. 3030fps and 3060fps area. Both shoot really well in the .3’s-.4’s normally. Going wait till warmer weather to verify both work and lock down a load.

Here’s a picture of the nice little 3 shot group I shot the other day waiting for the barrel to cool on another rifle verifying the lower charge will shoot now that the weather warmed up 20 degree’s from when I first tested it

Those are nice numbers from both rifles. I haven’t had the same kind of accuracy over 3000 FPS with the PRC’s in 6.5 or 7. Some of it may be that I worked them both up shooting through a can. The can slows down my already profound hearing loss but it’s not much for eating recoil. And those 156’s and the 175’s in the 7 PRC might be making me a little twitchy after a few rounds on the bench.

Love the stock, Matt. What stock are you shooting there Alf?
