20-250

I know it's a small sampling, but plenty of spinning & running going on.....

I didn't watch the video. And I don't know what bullet he's using. Last year when he was asking me some questions about building a .20-250 he was planning on a slow twist like mine is. I had to do quite a bit of trial and error to end up with a .20 caliber bullet that works well on coyote at over 4,000 fps. I ended up with a custom 38 gr. on drawn down Sierra .224 jackets.

That is a lot of spinning and flopping.

Time to try a different bullet.

As we know, bullet speed will change how the same bullet performs on-game.

The difference in impact of a 60gr Vmax at 3,700+fps out of my son's 223wssm vs the 60gr Vmax at 3,200fps out of my 222RemMag, on coyotes is very noticeable.

Was no such thing when I built mine 20 years ago. I have a barrel and a half lifetime supply of the 38's I'm using and they get the job done just fine. I hardly ever use it anymore though. Like my .17 Predator and my 6-284 better.

Not really a small sampling. Kirsch has been running that 20-250 for awhile now and I have noticed the same thing as you in most of his videos. I was going to ask him the reason for the change but the comments are disabled in his videos.

I’ve shot several coyotes with my 204R using Berger 35 HPs. Ranges were close, under 150 yards and they died very fast, no runners or spinners.

Entrance and exit in one, with 40 Berger at 4250, broadside, 125 yards.

Lot of spinning and staggering around with that one. And that was pretty much the score with every coyote I shot with the 40 Berger.

The only readily available bullet, custom or otherwise, that performed well with that much boiler room was the 45 Hornady. It killed great, actually. But the BC on it defeated the whole purpose of the build.

Did eventually get a bullet, made to my specs, that did everything I wanted it to.

That was all 20 years ago. I don't know what's all out there now. But building hot rods, sometimes it takes some trial and error to get traction out of all that horsepower. But I"m sure even today, you just can't take anything you've seen with a .204R and think it applies to the .20-250. Or, for that matter, the .20 Dasher, which I also have. It outruns the .20-250 pretty easy. Laser beam on rock chucks.

And dying too.
I use the 41 gr Tipped Hammer Hunters in the 1-8.5 twist and 55 Bergers in the 1-12 twist 20-250 barrels.
I have some of the 38gr BIB's for testing.
Way overkill for the ranges I hunt, if I hit them, but I'd rather have too much then not enough and the 20-250 feeds great in my Impulse Predator rifles.

I don’t have any experience with the big .20’s and super high velocities. But I do know that the 35 grain Berger at 3800-3900 fps kills coyotes very well out to 300 yards. Usually just a small entrance and no exit once in a while I might get a quarter sized exit hole. I’ve killed hundreds with it and there is no difference in how it kills coyotes compared to my .17 Tactical and 30 grain kindler Golds at 4000 fps. Most just tip over dead.
