It was actually 1-1-1-1 4 angle iron anchors driven in picket fashion. They are about 40 inches long, We chain them together, either with bolts or doing a wrap around it. I am considering screw anchors that are used for holding down a mobile home that you put in the ground with an impact. haven't decided if thats an upgrade. at some point I need to get smarter and not take marginal off roading vehicles in situations they have no business being in. The picture you have seen a while back on this thread of the blue truck in a mud bog was when I only had 3 anchors I carried. That time we used every piece of gear with the hi lift jack to recover and 3 anchors barely held, I had only put that recovery setup in my truck days before that. This side winching recovery is the result of at least 2 more times getting stuck and improving what I carry with me. So I decided to run 4 anchors! thank goodness! or rescue would have been surely needed.
It was a recovery that should have been documented ALOT more with video and better pictures because what we have doesn't do it justice. at one point I removed all the guns and PITA to replace items from the truck in case it went over into the river! The reason we didn't take many pictures or video was because it was a pretty serious situation. Its something we joke about now but it wasn't funny at all at the time. even getting help I am not really sure what they would have been able to do. We really had to recover it the way we did. The anchors barely and I mean barely held. the photo linker isn't letting me post a photo but I had to end up replacing all the anchors with new ones because it made them into pretzels. they didn't like a snatch block pull on them.
pretzel anchors.
