Ok just sharing a bit what I find a bit of amusing.
I think everyone know the wife drives a Jeep, me a 3500 dually so just throwing that out there in case folks don't know, or forgot.
Tires are due on both!!!! Nah not a woe is me tale, rather the thing that is funny.
When I got the dually years ago the wife spoke of how expensive the tires would be and was convinced of financial ruin. Why? she states two more tires, I looked at her and was like "B.S."
so the dually had new tires on the steers and about 50% tread wear on the rear when I bought it. Fast forward to today ( this is after 5 years we paid off the truck BEFORE needing tires), the Jeep has went through three sets, now the 4th set is due.
I mention that I need to put some new tires on the rear she loses her mind (bear in mind my steers still have about 50-to 60 % + tread life so I'm talking 4 tires) again she is like OMG the ruin, the cost. I look at her like she is AOC on the campaign trail. And go HUH??? What?? Really???
OK woman time for a education, get in the truck, keep mouth shut and just go to the tire shop with me.
So we price her tires first (yeah hers are soon due again as I stated). $1300.00 for a set, bear in mind these are not the off road etc etc but the same tires when brand new off the show room (she doesn't 4WD, and drives asphalt). The exact ones that most Jeep folks get rid of when they buy a Jeep. So not the actual expensive ones.
Now for pricing mine the 4 tires for the rear $1100.00, now I look at her and say ok your Jeep has went through 3 and soon to be 4 sets, which equates to $5200.00, mine is $1,100.0 so please tell me how dual's are way more expensive, even if I say buy two more within 6 months to change out the steers???
Normal female response the absolute quiet is deafening.
Now I well admit freely that when I ordered the 4 rear I screwed up and got Toyo's and didn't recall that steers are Hankooks, which I should have bought so I could have thrown the steers into the inner rears to even out the wear. meaning new steers, and new on the outer duals. So yeah I lost my rotation with the differing brands and will most likely have to buy another two to get them on rotation schedule, that is to setup for a more even wear across the set.
The result is peace and quiet... it's been a week.
