Rockchucks in Idaho.

Looking to start planning a trip for 2027, I am interested in private land only. Any productive tips are appreciated. Hunt-suppressed only; if one can find me a guide, I will get in touch. Same goes with a private landowner.
Nothing is free in life, and I understand that. THANKS

The idea is good; however, no one answers or returns calls. I may have to take a trip there in early fall and ask around; I will pay a fair amount to access PRIVATE property.

Not getting that just about everything huntable is pay-to-play: elk, moose, caribou, bear, coyotes, hogs, pheasants, waterfowl, deer, especially in Ohio now. A desperate man does desperate and unconventional things,furtermoer Idaho is huge. I've had many say exactly as you have,my guess is many have never even shot a rockchuck,i've hunted gh's since age 8, a passion, just wanting to extend that to another state. I'll see what happens when I travel to Idaho in the fall. One guarantee: in 2027, I'm in Idaho on private land shooting rockchucks,no matter what it takes.

I've shot thousands of them. No exaggeration. A decent portion of them in Idaho. I've never even had to ask for permission, let alone pay.

But, if pay for private is your deal, then by all means, have at it. I rarely hunt private, so it's nothing to me. The only times I've hunted private in Idaho, it was a friends permission, not mine, and we didn't have to pay. I will say, if you can get on good private ground, you should expect 100 a day. The best days we had on private were 200+ between two of us. But 50 a day isn't rare for us on public. We could do it almost any day, really, but we don't work too hard at it.

The most fun days I've ever had 'chuck hunting were in Idaho, on very private ground. My buddy got contacted by a country club golf course in Twin Falls (Blue Lakes?) to help them with 'chucks tearing up the golf course.

We had to use only shotguns. And couldn't shoot them on the greens. They gave us a golf cart with a big garbage can in the back to put the carcasses in and about 200 rounds each of twelve gauge lead #6's to use. I'm here to tell you, chasing a chuck down a fairway in a golf cart until he's in shotgun range and blasting it with a shotgun is a hoot! They actually closed the course for a half day to let us have free run. We got about 100 each time with the shotguns. That, was fun!

What area of Idaho is a safe bet? I'm going to start calling some big game guides in hopes they can steer me in the right direction,if I have to pay to play, so be it; I'm after quality shooting not quantity. 17 Hornet and 223 are my choices, all suppressed. Professionally trained LEO, not that it matters. THX for your input.

There is a bunch of Big fat chucks on the other side of the Twin Br. on Jerome side. I always see them on side of the Hwy driving into Twin.
