I’ve been trying to get Glen to participate in the group; maybe if I keep prodding he’ll come around.
We went out the night of the 3rd to the same farm I killed one not long ago. This time we setup on the SE corner of the barn yard in the hope we could catch them coming in from the NE.
About 9:30 I hear Glen say, Coyote! I was looking to the SSW and I spin around, look at Glen to get an idea of where he’s looking, then I mount my rifle and start looking to the North. Ah, there are 2 coyotes probably 350-400 yards out and then they start moving to the NE away from us. Oh heck I thought, I reached down and grabbed the remote, dialed in “groundhog distress" pushed the button and walked up the volume about half way. All of a sudden I see a coyote hard charging toward the call and I start easing off the volume, and mount my rifle again. We were both shouldered up to our 22-250’s as the lead coyote stopped at 200 yards, the 2nd coyote had disappeared in a swag, so all of a sudden I hear Glen’s report and the dog goes down, and I follow up with an anchor shot. About that time I say “coyote to the right”, chamber another round and hit the zoom button as the dog’s making its way North again, the dog stops for a moment and as I’m just about to squeeze one off, the dog takes off again and disappears into another swag.
We didn’t get 2 however, Glen nailed the 1st one!
