We left the house, Out last at 9pm . Dogs on the ground before 10:30.
Last night was one the rare nights where you just walk into the perfect situation. We got out of the truck, geared up. Basically we walked out tward same spot we popped a dog couple weeks back. Before we even get there to that spot a couple dogs are just starting Barking it up hard and loud . We move up to the edge of higher ground looking down to a huge pasture and we see 2 Dogs squared-up at each other.

Hunt buddy ( @sealine ) is on my R-side. I do a quick Range with the Therm Scanner and turn on the NV Scope. I look down there see both Dogs, with the Dog on the R-side painted-up with a big bright 'X' from my buddy's Thermal Scope's LRF . 'Me' I shooting with intensifier tube NV Scope, so I quickly Pull the trigger, and I POACH that Dog that he has his Thermal LRF IR beam painted on the Dogs chest that he is Ranging to shoot because in my brain... X-marks the spot .. LOL . Dog on the L-side rips off Left down pasture and then I hear him fire off a Round, and he anchors that dog right on the spot .

So one Dog a Male and other a Female . So Not dogs squared-up to fight. looks like they engaging in some loud Coyote foreplay before hooking-up, and we spoiled everything . Looks like the local dogs are already starting to pair up, to den up for pupping here in October .

never used a NV-are you saying that the laser RF 'shows up' on the animal in your scope? That would be hard not to shoot at ;) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Thermal Scopes don't view Protons ... LOL . Thermal only sees Infrared Radiation . using NV I gather/see Protons in Analog image from intensifier tube . I also see Everyone's Laser Rangefinders laser diode pulse it shooting out using NV when you activate them .
I Scan and LRF with using a Thermal . I use pvs14 for foot travel and shoot rifles with both NV clip-on and a NV scope . Thermal scope shooting has it's advantages, but I can ID. and see all Coyote difference in features like coat markings and facial details in a analog view image . I know it now day's considered 'old school ' but I been doing this for so long now i probably never shoot Thermal.

So he was Ranging that Dog I shot with his Iray Therm scope to take the shot . Now Me, I look at both the Dogs down range threw my NV scope, and I see a big 'bright' spot shining on Dogs chest he is painting about 160 yards out there from his Thermal Scopes internal LRF that is also slaved to his Therm. Scopes POI on it's Retical . 'Me' I already Ranged the Dogs with my Therm. Scanner's LRF walking up to the set-up spot . ( NV has Zero start-up time unlike Thermal ) ,So I turned my NV scope on quickly ' I Poached ' his dog, that he is projecting a big 'bright light' spot on before he pulled the trigger, and that he was lining up on to take out.

Any Thermal Scope or Scanner, and 'most' LRF's . They pop out a IR freq. pulse for ranging target that is comparable with NV intensifier tube to view. now Mil. contract uses a higher Freq, most times in their equipment now up in the 1500's nm IR that not in the usual 800nm 900nm range, and it not visible to most retail sold NV .
Also... If you own a Thermal Scope with a LRF feature. the ONLY way your going to check your Thermal Scopes LRF for accurate ranging . To make sure it is properly slaved to exact spot your Scopes Retical point of aim, is with a NV unit . If the IR spot not on the target with you LRF in your Thermal scope. You are not getting proper downrange shot holdover info.

for us, last night was one where coyotes are howling everywhere, near and far but simply refused to come in and investigate. we did see two people stealing cornstalks. i thought it would be fun to sneak as close as possible and let loose with the loudest howl we have on the call. then maybe yell something like "GET EM, KILLER"

or just stay quiet and film their reaction thru the scanner, maybe next time :)
