Just when I start to think I might be getting halfway decent at this, I'll have a stand that completely humbles me and reconfirms my amateur status.
I should have had 4 coyotes on this stand, maybe even 5, but things went sideways.

On the first pair, I got them coming with some howls, and committed with vole squeaks, but couldn't get my caller muted, which usually helps to slow their approach. I couldn't get the first coyote stopped and took a panic shot as I was running out of room. Looking at it frame-by frame, it would have been a perfect shot if the trigger had broken anywhere from .52 to 1 second earlier, but as it was, it broke at the top of his bound, and I missed low. The second shot had to have been really close too, but I think it sailed just a bit high.

Fortunately, I get a second pair to roll in using coyote distress, and even though one of my tripod legs was collapsing, because apparently, I didn't tighten it enough, (idiot...), I managed to get them both.
Then a fourth coyote lopes through, and I can't get him stopped either (what is happening??).
After a bit of mfk coyote fight sounds, I get a 5th to come in from downwind, and wasted no time dropping it.

All in all, it's hard to complain about a triple, but missing a gimme tends to leave you wanting...

i scan with thermal but shoot with digital n.v. on a tripod .. the other night i had a hard charger come in , by the time i saw him with the scanner he was right on me , by the time i transitioned to the gun , turned on the ir light , got the scope off sleep mode then found him in the scope he had already ran out of shooting range and i did not get him called back !
