Getting a bit frustrated

I may as well share my longest dry spell. It was pretty hard on the psyche all said and done. Conditions were pretty extreme. A 10 day run of -29C to -42C. It was dirty cold. I hit it every day during that snap. I never called in a single coyote. 60-80 sets and nothing to show for my efforts other than a bruised ego.

Keep at it. It’ll turn on at some point. Just have to stay the course.

Appreciate that Big Lou! and the others here too...

More antics this morning. I got to a really good spot this morning and had an east wind, which is perfect because the area that stretches a few miles is to the south, right where I was calling. I park the truck at the edge of the road and gear up, walk up the grade to the top of the field and see a set of fresh tracks, how fresh I can't be certain but at least the night before. So I continue to my spot and set up, call for 30 minutes with nothing happening. I pack up and start to walk back to the truck and cross a set of fresh coyote tracks on a dead run (6' between prints) right over my snowshoe tracks from earlier.

Fak me! I can't win :ROFLMAO: He was down wind of me the whole time! The tracks show he came up enough over the edge of the field to smell me and bolted back the same way he came in the beginning. I'm sure I've had that happen more than I know but this season it's slap in the face. That's two now that made me before i could do anything.

Do you guys think he's a right off now? He didn't ever see me (that I know of) but he obviously smelled me after coming to the call.

He is wiser but, not bullet proof! Change your set-up, you are smarter than the coyote.(y)

That would be one I would give some time to forget about it. And then do everything differently next time. Calls, setup location, approach all differently if possible.

I know it isn’t always possible, but seeing your downwind is very beneficial.

Keep at it. It’ll come together for you.

Thanks for the ideas and vote of confidence 🥰 I never call many each year but this year has been particularly tough.

Listen to these guys, when I started using a crosswind and really thinking my approach and setup through, I started becoming way more successful.
