"Big Grass" fire update:
The fire is last reported at over 579,000 acres and only 35% contained. Looking at the maps they have got control of much more than 35%, but there are still hot spots that are difficult to reach. This is open grass and sage brush country with really step draws and valleys and deep canyons.
Based on onX measurements, the fire is about 65 miles wide east to west and 64 miles north to south.
The white lines are my measurements:

It's less than 4 miles from the Nevada border. I think the saving grace may be that the Department of the Interior got involved when it started burning inside the Duck Valley Reservation. I was looking at flight tracker two or three days ago and spotted a plane that was labeled Department of the Interior flying into Boise. The next day there were, at a minimum, 18 tankers and helicopters fighting that part of the fire. Duck Valley seemed to light a fire under their butts, and because of that the fire only grew 5 acres overnight. It has less than ten miles to go south before it hits a million acres of cheat grass left from huge fires 8-10 years ago. Maybe only five or six miles right below Horse Basin.
