I've been out chasing pigs and coyotes and haven't paid much attention to the news. So... how's that MOU and ceasefire working out? Did it deliver what everyone said it would? Is oil moving freely through the Strait yet, or are we still waiting?
Last I heard everything is great, couldn't be better, there's gonna be a deal, a great deal, everyone will love it. Oh and the stock market is doing amazing

I don't see it. We don't have the combat power in theater for a ground invasion of a country the size of Iran. Air strikes are one thing. Occupying and sustaining forces inside Iran is something else entirely. Before Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, we spent months building combat brigades, equipment, fuel, ammunition, and supply lines. I don't see that kind of buildup today.

If anything, we've seen equiptment and personnel repositioned to places like Jordan and Israel while other resources have been moved farther from the highest-risk areas. That looks more like protecting forces than assembling the logistics needed for a large-scale ground invasion.

Sure, we could seize an island or even parts of the coast, but then what? Holding ground is an entirely different mission. Maybe a targeted Special Forces operation to secure nuclear material, but if there were a realistic plan for a full-scale invasion, I think we'd already be seeing the months-long buildup that kind of operation requires.

To me, that's why a ground invasion doesn't make much sense. You don't invade a country the size of Iran without overwhelming logistics, secure staging areas, and a clear political endgame. Right now, I don't see any of those pieces in place.

like I said 6 months ago if this outcome was seen as the future agreement. it would have been thought that Iran had set off a nuke of their own somewhere. We lost the war, pure and simple. Short of a ground invasion which everyone knows isn't going to happen, we can't win against Iran. The fear of the unknown consequence for Iran was what kept things more stable in the region. Those fears are no longer the case. What are we gonna do about it seriously? we will run out of bombs trying to teach them a lesson. a few drones launched from a random place in Iran can hit ships in the Strait. The genie has been let out of the bottle.

I think Trump realized that if this kept going shit was really going to hit the fan in ways that could really cripple the economy. Oil tanks were about to totally run dry. Even things like oil base stocks for motor oils were about to experience massive shortages. auto parts stores, car manufacturers were already warning about needing to substitute certain oils to just get by. Lines at the gas pump was going to be next. I said it was a mistake in the beginning to start the war and people mocked me and made fun of me and accused me of being anti maga. i left another forum over it. fortunately the crowd over here is at least smart enough to see through the bull shit. TDS works both ways for the left and the right. for the right its that Trump can do no wrong and plays 5 d chess.

long term it may be a good thing that people quit poking Iran in the eye. if we can just start Brookhaven RP scripts doing business in their economy. thats the path to influence them. Sanctions are a joke and serve only to prop up their own insular industries internally .
Which TDS works both ways for the left and the right?

Trump derangement on the left and Trump disappointment on the right.

I think support from the conservative base and the libertarian base has dropped off in a big way. Their war was supposed to be for 2 weeks and that was almost 7 months ago. To start and end a war in 2 weeks is hogwash.

What a load of bologna we were sold.
