1 & 8 twist in a AR what bullet weight?

I am having some good early results with 55 gr Nosler ballistic tips. However, most of the feedback I've received on multiple forums is to buy some 69 gr Sierra Match Kings, seat those over ~24 gr of Varget, and call it good.

I will be trying the SMK's to see, but I have been impressed so far (early testing results) with the 55 grainers, too.

50 grain to 69 grain should work well in your twist if you reload my ar and bolt guns like win 748 its my go to powder for 223 hope that helps you

Mine shoots a variety of bullets very well in my RRA PP. It really likes the 60 grian Nosler ballistic tips and the 50 Nosler ballistic tips over benchmark powder. I have also read about the 69 grain sierra bullets in the AR's but have not had a chance to try them out just yet, but will in the near future.

Here is a second for the 69 gr Sierra Matchkings. They are very responsive in my 1:8 and my 1:9 barrels. I have used Varget, AA2230 and BLC2 with that bullet with great success. I have loads that are sub MOA with all combos.

It's worth a try.

FWIW, anything under 55gr and my 1:8 gets really finicky. YMMV

Your 1 in 8 twist barrel will handle anything from the 40 gr. to the 80 gr. bullets very well. My personal preference is the 50 gr. to the 75 gr. bullets. The list of powders that work well is long. I prefer N133 with the 50 gr. bullets, N135 with 55's, Benchmark or 748 with the 60 gr.
Sierra or Hornady, and N540 with the 69 to 75 gr. bullets. I learned long ago that just because you have a fast twist barrel that don't mean it won't shoot the light bullets well. Good luck with your AR. For a LOT of years all I owned was bolt guns, but since I bought an AR, I have learned they are addictive!

Mine likes 69 or 77gr bullets with varget, BL(c)2 or R15 (R15 so far has an edge)
the Sierra 77gr and the Nosler CC seem to shoot about the same.
