Long story but thanks to a very generous offer it looks like ill be able to get this shotgun instead of the cheaper Mos 930 Turkey (the one I was settling for because it was alot cheaper).

Im curious if anyone owns this particular gun and if they like it. Its main purpose will be to shoot lots of lead at lots of things! 2 3/4" slugs and 00 buck as well as 3" #4 buckshot. Maybe the occasional #6 for a rabbit or something but not often.

Thanks guys!

Nice gun. That is the one I want. I have the rem. vip offer for one year and am thinking seriously about the 11-87 or 887. Anxious to see performance evaluation.

Rem VIP offer??

I love the way the gun looks and the name on it but there just isnt a lot of feedback on this particular gun...

Took an 870 armorers course and the VIP offer is part of the tuition. It is a 25% below cost offer on any standard Remington weapon. So roughly half of MSRP, one gun- one year.

Dang that sounds like a pretty good deal!

The 11-87 just has such mixed reviews.... Some people make it seem like you have to clean it SUPER well after every use or it wont work... I dont mind cleaning my guns but there are just some times that they get shot a few times without getting cleaned.. The 1100 my dad had got cleaned ONE time that I can remember and that thing worked great...

O decisions....

Anyone have an 11-87 and like it?? I know most reported problems are with target loads. I dont think the 2 3/4" slugs will have a problem cycling....

my buddy has that exact gun for turkey and it HAMMERS them! it will kill easily to 70 yards. i wouldnt say the sights make it the best rabbit gun but it could be done.

I have an 11-87 special purpose. I have had it close to 15 years now. It is the first gun I bought with my own money. I mentioned in another forum that I did not like it as well as my Dad's 1100 (still dont). Its a pretty good shotgun but if I had it to do over again, I probably would not have bought it. I think the older this gun is the more I like it. I think they best thing I did for it was feed about 100 rounds of 3" Deer slugs to it. Once it loosened up a bit, it is much more reliable to shoot. I dont have the cycle problems I had when it was new. Since I am in a slug gun only deer state, it is my go to deer gun. I now shoot Hornady 2 3/4 SST slugs through it and it does fine. My only other thought about automatic shotguns, if you dont want to clean them, buy a pump. I clean mine each time out, even if I dont shoot it.

^ I appreciate all the info guys!

Thanks to some serious generosity, I have a chance to get the 11-87 super mag turkey gun at a great price... I just cant turn it down! My main rounds out of it will be 2 3/4" slugs and 00 as well as 3" #4. I think it will cycle both of those just fine!

Ill post more when I have it in hand and can do some patterning and range testing!

Thanks again all!
