12 gauge reloading press

I was curious if any of you are reloading buckshot or BB for Coyote guns. I'm also curious if anyone has recommendations for a reloading press that will reload 31/2 12 gauge shells

Yep. its a pita, but worth it.

several options as far as presses. mec makes a 3.5" press conversion, or you can buy a steel master press fitted for 3.5 from the factory.

I swap parts for my 600 from 12 gauge and 10 gauge units to make the 3.5" shells.

another option is to get a sizemaster, a roll crimper punch and a drill press.

resize hull with the sizemaster, knock out the primer with the punch, insert the primer by hand then seat using 1/2 in round stock in your drill press chuck using it as an arbor press. load using known good data use an overshot card and roll crimp to finish. Primitive, but it works. Obviously if you have a shotshell press already some of these steps can be done on it.

I have reloaded quite a few different coyoye loads in the past. The Mec 600 Junior or Mec Sizemaster is all you need to start reloading shotgun shells.

You won't save much money reloading coyote loads but it is fun to reload them and you can reload the load you want.

Check out Ballistic Products Inc. They have all the shot and wads and reloading data you will need. I really liked BPI's Super Buckshot in lead BBB and lead "T" shot. Both of the BBB and "T" lead shot work great on coyotes and you get many more pellets per shell than Number 4 Buckshot.

If you look around you can find a used Mec loader for half the money of a new one.

I reload 3.5 for waterfowl. I have the mec steelmaster. It words pretty well. You could probably get the RCBS baby grand for less money. The high volume loaders don't like than one as much, but you may get by with it.

You can look for a used press at a gun show and buy a kit to make it 3.5 inch but you have to know what models you can do that with.

The drill press idea above is pretty smart. Ballistic Products sells the crimpers for about 40 bucks.

I had a lee load-all when I reloaded shotgun. I hated that thing

Did cases of ammo with it though. THen I gave up on shotgun reloading, wasn't worth the time for what I was doing.
