16" vs 20" noise level

A lot to think about. I am currently carrying a .223 Rem 700 PSS that has a bull barrel. I lugged it around from dark to dark today and it does get heavy. A 20" AR might not feel so bad to me weight wise since I am used to a heavy rifle (11.5#). I think a 20" Predator Pursuit would end up somewhere in that neighborhood with scope and bipod. Maybe a touch lighter.

As far as a silencer goes, not in this state right now, or ever. I am just glad I can get an AR as long as it has the stupid bullet button. Gotta love CA.

I Like my 20" fluted not over loud or overly heavy.
Just order a 20" 6.8spcII.

To make an AR legal for CA it has to have a fixed magazine. In other words, a tool is required to remove the magazine. The mag release button is not a button at all but has a little hole in the center that can be pushed with a small sharp tool. A bullet works. Another version has the mag release button with a small set screw in the center. The set screw has to be backed out in order to push the mag release. In theory after the mag change you are supposed to screw it back down so it can't be pushed again without the screwdriver. I am sure everyone around here does that

On the other hand, you can have a regular mag release, but then the gun can't have any of the "evil" features such as a flash hider, pistol grip, collapsable stock, etc. This bit of law has saved countless lives. Hooray for CA lawmakers keeping us all safe in our eutopia.
