Who between Specialized Dynamics and Black Hole Weaponry would be best suited for such a build? Anyone own one? I want an 18 or 20" barrel (can't decide), in a slim contour fully fluted barrel. It would be a carry/calling upper not a full auto or bench type. Weight (within reason) is everything.

Dtech makes them as well.

I was/am TORN between the 17/223 and a 20 Practical.

Black hole weaponry makes both barrels.

I'm going through the same process... trying to decide between the .17 and .20 Practical. At this point, I'm leaning harder towards the .20, just need a little more info. I plan on going with Specialized Dynamics for the upper.

getting a .17 caliber with an 18" or 20" barrel would be like getting a corvette with a 4 banger under the hood. Might look sexy, but it won't perform like the caliber could with a longer barrel.

I do realize a 22-24" barrel would yield maximum performance. It won't if I leave it at home though. Whatever I build will be a short enough to yield adequate performance, it will be light, thin & fluted. Fortunately for me, I'm not a velocity worshiper. It will be a carry/calling rifle (carried much/shot little). Pretty sure I'll end up at 18" on the short end to 21" on the long end.

Either SpecDyn or Dtech could fix you up I am sure.

I know Dtech has the Midlength, medium contoured fluted barrels.
