Looking at buying a fireball, deciding between a vsf with a 26" barrel and a predator with a 22" barrel.

Weight is not a big factor (all though i do perfer a heavier rifle) just looking for help deciding.

I plan to shoot kindler golds 30 grains.

I know the barrel length will make a difference swinging it, but still unsure which way to go.

Give me your thoughts

huntnpa Although this is not a 17FB this may shed some light on why you so not need a 26 inch barrel to get good speed. I bought a Encore barrel from these guys for the 17 Mach IV/17 FB and it was 20 inches and it shot great and the speed was over 4000fps with 20gr bullets.

That's what my CZ is and It's just about perfect IMO.
I don't shoot 30's but I'm running Nagels 20's at 4120 with room to spare...

Unfortunatly there's no free lunch. Longer barrel = more velocity,,, plain and simple.. Just depends what YOU want to acomplish ..

I don't like big donkey d^ck rifles for hunting. They're fine for target shooting or PD towns, not lugging around.

I build my rifles as lite as possible and they shoot well with the correct load/load development.
