Which upper?

I am hoping to get into a rimfire upper. My goal is a point and shoot woods rifle that comes up easily, and can be point at shoot out to at least 75 yards. I would like to be accurate enough for pot shots at pest birds, and powerful enough for called raccoons and short range groundhogs. It will mostly be shot with a suppressor. The "accurate enough for pest birds" leads me to the HM2 or HMR, but I worry that the raccoons and groundhogs will be better served with the WMR. With the 5.18" suppressor, I feel that the 20" options will be a little unweildy, and know that the HMR's most effective length is 19", with the WMR and HM2 being good at 16". I'm leaning toward the 16" HMR, but not decided yet.

I know the best answer is one of each, but would like to hear opinions on these calibers and barrel lengths?

Be farwarned that their RF uppers are picky as to what triggers they will work with due to the shape of the bcg and the shape of the hammer on your trigger.
They will not work with my la rue mbt2 triggers or my geissele trigger.
They do work with the RRA NATIONAL MATCH 2 stage varmint trigger.

For coyote sized game I'd go with one of the wmr offerings.

I guess I will have to see if my Hiperfire triggers work when I get one. I quick search didn't turn up much aside from Geissele not working.

I wish you luck. I think you'll like the RAA NM trigger should you need to change provided you like 2 stage triggers. Plus they are still under $100.

Unless youre dead set on an ar upper, for about the same price you could prob get a decent walking rimfire varmint rifle. Id like to get a 93r17 minimalist for the same purpose. Other that cosmetics ive heard good things about the newer winchester 17wsm also.

I'd be more than willing to try one. I have the hiperfire because I was shooting 5.45x39 and 7.62x39 uppers and wanted the extra force on the firing pins.

I had a MKII FV-SR. Not something I would not want to lug. The 17 WSM is on the list, but I want to see what the most efficient barrel length is, and it's also much more expensive per round than the H or WMR.
