17 HMR for Wolf or Wolverine?

17 HMR for wolf and wolverine anyone? Believe it or not it looks like it has been done.

Neither one of those animals were in a trap. Both were shot incidentaly. I was quite miffed when I watched the video myself, but proves the 17 HMR is not a toy.
 
It will kill things but it is going to wound some that get away around here. If you were in snow where the trailing is easy it might not be the worst choice.
 
I would not trust the 17 on wolves.
Wolves usually are in packs, maybe 4-6 or, more are close by.
If the pack came in on you how would a 17 protect you.
You have to remember these wolves are averaging around 100 pounds apiece. The young ones.
To protect me my choice is not a 17 caliber anything.
No offense, a 17 caliber does not make me feel safe hunting wolves.

Believe me I'm not advocating or asking if it's enough gun. I can't tell you how many times I've read threads about the hummer being to small to kill coyotes and happened to run across these videos on YouTube and thought I would post them to stir the hummer pot a little. Apparently with good shot placement it kills stuff, go figure?
 
If you get a bad hang nail and it doesn't stop bleeding...you will die eventually. 17 will kill but you will lose 2 times as much as you retrieve.

Just cause something's been done doesn't make it ok or ethical.

Personally, I find anyone that talks like that to be trash. They seem like the type that could care less if they retrieve what they shoot.

You ever been up close to a wolf????

If you have you know you don't want to shoot one with a 17.

I KNOW my 22/250 will kill one but I'd just as soon have my 243 or my 30/30 heck if I was not wanting the fur I'd use my 45/70

I enjoyed the wolf video haven't seen the other one yet.

I consider people who use the "F" word at least once in every sentence they speak to be trash. I'm sorry if that offends someone, but you are judged by your actions and the guy in that video is about as good of an example of trash as I've ever seen. A person who cannot speak without uttering cuss words like that every other word is not someone that I have the slightest amount of respect for.

I agree overuse of the word is tacky, but i would never judge or call someone trash because of it.

I think you need to rethink who you are to judge.
