.17 HMR scope for around $100

Do you reckon the low end would have a big enough field of view at 25-30 yds. Sometimes when I shoot grey squirrels they get pretty dumb.

geenhead93, if your referring to the Mueller APV, yes it has very good field of view on low end. I normally leave mine on 8x and it works great. I did go with a set of Burris Zee Medium rings on mine though.

They leave very little space between the barrel and scope. Less than 1/2", but the scope doesn't touch the barrel. Looks good, shoots great.

Alright a bit of a big bump here but I didn't think a whole new thread was necessary. So heres my situation: I bought a Mueller APV and Burris Signature Zee Rings for my Savage 93R17 and I cannot get the rings onto my bases(which are savage factory weaver style bases). As you can see in the picture the rings do not detach on the sides. This may seem dumb but I have not worked with rings like this before and am in need of advice.

Thanks for any help.

I did that and it won't fit. I am starting to think the bases on the gun might not be weaver style, but i bought it new and it should come with weaver style bases.
Thanks for the quick reply

I had the same problem with the same Burris rings on my brand new Savage 93R17 I purchased a month ago. I ended up using a flat blade screwdriver tapped lightly into the slot on the ring to spread it apart a bit. This worked for me. Should this be necessary? Not in my mind but it worked.

Sorry for the late response. I assumed that the bases were incorrect and were picatinnny as opposed to weaver bases. So I ordered some Weaver #14 bases. I heard of this mistake being made by Savage on another forum before.
