17 Javelina Range Report

Nothing earth shattering here. I am not taking blame for all my poor groups tonight but I think they could not have been worse if I had been drinking!

I loaded some new 17 Javelina brass formed from 222 Remington brass. I loaded 18.5 gr of H4895 behind some Midway 25 gr HPs. Next trip I will try same load with V-Maxes and fire formed brass.

Here is a picture of the rifle. Sako L461 with Pac-Nor barrel.

I do have another 17 Javelina. It is an original Atchinson & Marquat built in mid to late 1960s. These were built on a Sako L46 action. The chamber dimensions of this Javelina is entirely different than my spider webbed L461 at the beginning of this post. I have found the higher the pressures the better these Javelinas shoot.

Latest group on Spider web stock L461. My newest loads are 20.3gr of H4895. There are no signs of excessive pressures. Adam has been prodding me to jack up this load to nearly 21 grs. I am slowly getting there.
