Has anyone done a ruger 10-22 rebarrel form 22LR to
17 mach 2? Who would you recommend getting a barrel from, if you had to do it on a budget? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif
just remember the 17 HM2 operates under more pressure so you must slow the bolt down. the way to do this is change springs or use the eabco heavy bolt handle.

I purchased a factory profile 17M2 barrel from EABCO and installed it along with the heavy bolt handle. I haven't had a chance to sight it in with the current optics but it is for sure louder than a 22. I have also seen where somebody on another board was attempting to increase the weight of a Remington bolt by drilling it and installing tungsten (I believe) rods. I don't know if he was ever successful.

The only problem I have now is the 10/22 was my wife's turtle gun so now I have to replace it.
I built mine when the .17M2 first came out. Mine has an Accu-Line carbon fiber barrel, as well as a bunch of specialty parts in the fire control system.
Once you get past the part of switching out the bolt lever, you've got it knocked. That is not really that hard, I'm just a little clumsy, or need three hands /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
You will love the flat trajectory of the 17M2 compared to the .22lr... I had to bring my scope setting for point of impact down 35 clicks..
I did mine with the heavy stainless 17M2 barrel from EABCO with the heavy bolt handle. Boyd's thumbhole stock, bedded, and with a Jard 1# trigger. Shoots about 1 MOA at 110 yards. NICE
And it's an easy do, if you can change the oil in your car you can do it.
