.17 Rem Bullets?

24" Shilen 1 in 10 twist. Doesn't shoot 25 vmax or the 30's well. Loves the 25 hp(Berger,Hornady,Reed's).
Try pushing the vmax harder. It’s a tough bullet, it can take it. If you can get the Berger to fly, you should be able to get the vmax to go. 24.5 gr of Varget is getting me just over 3800 out of the 16” barrel.

I have plenty of WCD 25's and the old Berger match target 25's(and a lot of Hornady 25 hp). Only thing I would use the vmax for would be prairie dog, just to save my better bullets for fox/coyote. I have tried them out of my 24" 10 twist at 4000, still keyhole slightly and poor groups. Pretty common for 10 twist 17's not to shoot long for weight bullets well. Just can't fight spin requirements for stable flight.

Me too, (2nds??) I never tried any of Todd's bullets. Which I would have when I went down to his shop. I did buy 20 TAC brass from him thankfully back in the day.

I have a Lilja 1 in 9 twist on my M700 for the 30's, one of my go to day rifles. I saw the writing on the wall 15 years ago, wanted to be well stocked up for a couple rifle barrels.

I have loaded the berger 25 gr match hp for my 17 Rem for many years and I was loading a batch today and realized I was almost out of bullets. I was going to order some and seems they are not making that one anymore and only the varmint bullet, which was not the best choice back when they made both. It didn't penetrate well and blew up on shoulders. Can anyone give me some advice on a good bullet for coyotes in .17 cal and 25 gr? My gun will not stabilize a heavier bullet so can't load 30's.
The 25 bergers are what im using now just ordered 1000. I have 500 of the Hornady HP. Some 25 Golds and 900 30gr Black Holes. Have you used the 25 V Max on coyotes? Hammer makes a 21 gr

I’ve used the V Max on coyotes. Closest was around 50 and furthest was just shy of 600. All died where they stood.
