.17hmr upper

I just found 600 rounds of misc 17hmr and I dont currently have a rifle in this caliber. I did some quick reading on the utility of this caliber. Looks like 2 manufacturers make uppers. I prefer the one without having to make modifications to my lower. What are you thoughts on a thoughts on a light weight Ar for predators and hogs?

a lightweight ar upper is fine for preds and hogs.

a 17hmr upper, not so much.
 
A buddy has the AA 17hmr, its very accurate and reliable, mags are cheap.

Great for pdogs, sage rats, etc. Not so great for hogs, coyotes, etc.
 
Probably would be great for plinking small animals and targets, but for coyotes and hogs, not so much.

If you're only looking to hunt predators and hogs, the .17HMR is a bit weak. If your interest in the rimfire in an AR15 is because of the CA laws, then the Garrow is an excellent option for colony varmints. The changes that need to be made to your AR take about 3 minutes to do.

If the AR15 is not a must, then the Savage A17 mentioned by Dirty Dog, is another great choice!
