Well let me start off by saying I am absolutely amazed with both of these rifles. I picked up the predator for a new coyote and mt lion rifle and the 700 is a project gun that will end up getting suppressed.
The savage Trophy Predator is a great package. it is a model 11 heavy barrel that comes with a savage exclusive Nikon 3-9x40 coyote edition scope. ready to go out of the box. I picked it up at Cabelas for $617 which also comes with a $75 rebate from savage. two days ago I sighted this in at 100 yards when I shot my first group I was amazed. I am using factory Winchester 58gr varmint x which shoot at 3850 fps.100 yard group help strong at a .35 group. today I decided to push them out to 200 for my sight in and shot the group on the left target at 285 yards. which held a .781 group.

The Remington 700 SPS varmint does not come with a package but is worth every penny of the $600 it cost. if you are looking at long range shooting the stock with have to be upgraded being it is not a free floating barrel. with that being said I was amazed at the group I pulled today at 285 yards with my reloads. my loads are 178gr hornady amax, 40.3gr of varget, win large rifle primer and Winchester brass. The target on the right is the 308 which help a .41 group at 285 yards.

With either rifle you cant go wrong. I will have to say I am falling in love quick with the savage accu trigger. not to mention a .781 group at nearly 300 yards with gun straight out of the box shooting 3850 fps is amazing. As for the 700 I am surprised the older 700 sps varmints had a big accuracy issue with the stocks but I would have to say it has been fixed. I knew my loads would be great in it so when I sighted it in at 100 I used Remington core lokts. cheapest hunting rounds I could find and to my amazement they were holding a .689 group at 100 yards. which if you use core lokts you know is amazing. once I start my build on my 308 I will start a thread and post as I go. hope you enjoyed!
