Okay I have I a question about this 20 cal for coyotes business...
I can remember visiting Desert Hot Springs California and the coyotes would range from 16-23 lbs. Years ago I lived in Central Calif about 2 miles from a dairy. The dairyman would leave his dead cows out for the yotes to eat rather than pay to have the truck pick them up. It was not uncommon to shoot a yote well over 30 lbs. Actually, there were several dairies that did that and the coyotes in the San Joaquin Valley ran pretty big. Up here in NW Oregon, some of the yotes also can get pretty big. So I guess my question is:
How does the 20 cal do on yotes over 30 lbs?
I currently use nothing smaller than a 223 but have dreamed of a 20 Vartarg project. The 20 Practical is another one that interests me.
One other concern I have is just about every place I call coyotes here in Oregon also has mountain lion, and the season is open pretty much all year on them. For that reason the 243 is a great option for that rare opportunity when one of the big cats respond to the call (which unfortunately has not happened to me yet...alas).
