20 Tactical

Finally got my Reminton 700 in 20 Tactical out to shoot some prairie dogs this weekend. Holy cow it was fun. If I could see them, I could hit them. I am used to shooting p-dogs with my .17 HMR so I kept holding waaay too high with the 20 Tactical. Once I reprogrammed my brain to quit holding over, it was easy. I'm shooting 32gr V-max with H4198, muzzle velocity of 4,150fps.

That Tactical is more fun to play with than a passel of puppies. It is my go to round in a battle between it and the 20 Practical ahead of my 204's. I got several doubles with mine last time out. Mine loves the Bergers BTW.

Congratulations on your choice.

I built a 20 tactical last year and I couldn’t find dies anywhere. I got a set of 204 ruger dies and has the die cut To match the 20 tactical. I also bought the Redding form die and found out it was a waste. The brass comes out of the shortened 204 fl die than the form die. There is hardly any difference before and after firing. I really like the cartridge!

I special ordered the Redding Match bushing set when I got my Tactical. The price was eye opening but it hooked me on the bushing dies.

I got my 20T supplies from Todd Kindler, dies and his brainwashing materials (Terrific Twenties and Sensational Seventeens). I also got his wooden stand to attach my Forster Coax to. He has anything 17 or 20 cal related in stock.

Back to the topic at hand, one year ago I started reloading 204R then I got a 20T barrel for my savage 12FV. 20T is easy to form/make I don't have the patience for alot of steps. I got the form/trim die and the Redding FL die. I bought 2500 pieces of once fired, cleaned, deprimed and swaged Lake City from Brass Bombers. I decided to size brass in two steps using the form die then the FL die. I did form some of the once fired 223 in one step but I was getting more dimples in the case shoulder. I still loaded and fired without incident cases with dimpled shoulders. Moral of the story is either way works on once fired 223 brass and it's NOT tedious or difficult. I'm sure new 223 would be a little easier. I shoot 39gr Sierrs's at 3800 with 8208XBR and a Rem 7.5, lots of fun in the PD patch!!!
