Congrats on a gorgeous wolf.
Here's a size comparison of a Wolf vs Coyote for those wondering how big a wolf is.(image borrowed from another forum). Got to love the 204!

most were under 200 yards with varying weights mostly from 35-50gr soft points and hard bullets all with similar results. shot placement usually in the heart lung area.

Yeah, you have no idea! I mean I was wolf hunting, but it's still rare to see them so it's always somewhat of a surprise.

There I am riding at 20 below zero with all the necessities to keep warm and suddenly see 2 wolves on the river! It's a pretty long ride to get to this spot which is why my gun was in a gun boot. Anyway, it was almost stressful and panic set in because I knew I had to act fast to strip off the goggles, gloves, get to the gun, set-up for a running shot, etc, and meanwhile both wolves are high tailing it down the river and out of my life! You get so few chances that you really don't want to screw it up. I'll tell you, it would have made a pretty good video of just how [beeep] fast a guy can move!! I pulled it off, partly with some luck I suspect but partly by being prepared - I say give me more luck anytime!!

I agree with Jeff. FANTASTIC !!

Glad to have you on the forums. I really enjoyed your story and the photos. That is one heck of a nice trophy. I'm amazed at the performance of the .204.

A wolf, to me, would about be the ultimate predator. I have dreamed of taking a wolf for many years. There's just something special about it. It's one heck of a good trophy since they don't come easy.

You did a great job. Thanks for sharing that with us.

I was fortunate to have been able to hunt Alaska one time, in 1995. It's a beautiful state, totally different and wild from anything I have ever experienced. I would love to go back.
