.204 ballistics

Is there anyone who can refer me to a ballistics program or tell me from their experiences what the rate of drop is for a .204. I'll pick a 39 gr. bullet to keep it consistant. I'm curious where a guy holds the cross-hairs on the coyote when it's 200 yds out, 300 yds out, etc.

From the Chuck Hawks article.

The trajectory, zeroed for a maximum bullet rise of 1.5", should look like this: +0.1" at 50 yards, +1.1" at 100 yards, +1.5" at 150 yards, +1.1" at 200 yards, -0.3" at 250 yards, -2.7" at 300 yards. The maximum point blank range of the .204 Ruger (+/- 1.5") is approximately 277 yards (calculated for a scope mounted 1.5" above the bore). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I use this one.

I think you'll find the above info close to being correct. The load that I have shot the most is a 35 grain Berger using 27 grains of H322 and a Remington 7 1/2 primer. I get about 3800 ft pr second.
I'm sighted in 1+ high at 100 yds and it shoots about 2.5" low at 300. Probably about -10 at 400 and -22 at 500, but I haven't attualy verified the drop at those distances yet.

Try a search for "Point Blank Ballistic Programs" on yahoo. It's a simple download and the program works very well. I use it all the time. It even has a data base with hundreds of bullets, powders, and primers. *quarterbored
