204 Caliber Rifle question

So, I am do my research on 204 rifle options. I have considered an 204 upper for my JP Enterprises AR15 but I am finding that I can get a rifle for the same price or less.

I am looking for some opinions. A local gun store has a CZ 527 (set trigger and scope rings) for $699.00. I also found a Ruger American Predator at Cabelas for $449.00. I am fond of nice rifles, so buying a better firearm is not necessarily the issue. Reviews on both guns I have found are vey positive. Is the CZ 527 that much better of a gun in accuracy than the Ruger American Predator for a $250.00 difference?

Thanks for any feedback.

Can't answer your question on the CZ and Ruger, but I purchased a Savage Model 10 Predator in .204 and it is an awesome shooter. I am sure someone will chime in and give you more insight on your question. Good luck on what ever you purchase. I love the .204 caliber.

are you planning on needing quick follow up shots? if so i'd say the upper is the way to go.

the ability to do quick follow ups, especially with the lack of muzzle jump that i see in my .204 upper, might be a real plus for you in the field

its not like a .204 is trickier to reload for than a .223 is in an ar.

just my $0.02 USD

Probably more likely to find a accurate C-Z than the Ruger, good as it is. Plus, you'll have a rifle of walnut and steel that will be worth more on resale. Not sure I'd risk trading what sounds like an already-accurate AR upper for a different one.
My .204 C-Z Varmint is the most accurate over-the-counter gun I own (although some Savage owners will probably claim the same thing).

Every Ruger American that I have shot has been very accurate, and the trigger can be easily worked to a crisp 1.5 lb. I think for the money, they are very hard to beat!
I bought a CZ 17 Hornet and ended up selling it...but I really liked the set rigger!
That being said....my favorite .204 is my Savage 16 with the Accu Stock. I get a lot of enjoyment from this rifle, and it is super accurate!

I have a CZ 527 Varmint in .204 and it's a tack driver. The set trigger just makes it so easy to shoot it accurately. Mine easily shot .5 MOA at 100 yards with factory 32 grain Hornady ammo and even better with my hand loads. It shot the 40 grain bullets good as well until you got out past 200 yards. The trigger is far better than most and the action is super smooth.

I have a Ruger American Ranch 300 blackout and the triggers are no where near the same but the Ruger is accurate and the action is great. You won't go wrong buying either.

Oh goodness! Get it! That's an amazing deal right there. That's about what I paid for mine 10 years ago. I have since worn out the factory barrel and replaced it with a Criterion and it is one of my very favorite varminters.
