I am having a heck of a time finding a brush and patch jag for my 204 ruger. Where could I find one?? How many rounds are yall shooting before cleaning the barrel on this caliber?
Thanks for the help

Cabelas carries patches, as well as the other items, for the .20 cal.

My package is from "Pro-Shot Products" in Taylorville, IL and are sized for .20, .22, & .24 caliber.

Check the prices and get a bore guide as well...

Dewey 20 caliber jags are too tight with all but the smallest of patches. The ProShot jag is the ticket. I only use nylon brushes for the 204, they're from Sinclair Int.
+100 on a good bore guide. Get one specifically for the 204.

I've been using Pro Shot patches and found the .22 cal patches actually fit tighter into the bore of my .204 with the Pro Shot jag. The .20 cal patches are just too lose fitting for my liking.

ETA: If I shoot alot I clean once the accuracy falls off. Otherwise when I get home.

I use a Dewey 20 cal rod and jag. If you don't mind saving $ go to Wally World and buy white flannel cloth by the yard, around 3.00 a yard and cut the patches. Mine are cut 5/8" square and work great. I clean the Savage 12Fv in 204 after shooting. It takes about 5 shots to foul the bore to start grouping again.
No brush here. Just patches with Shooters Choice, 1 wet, followed by 1 dry, repeat several times.

I ordered everything from Dewey last night. New teflon rod, brass brush, loop patch holder, and jag. What advantage does the nylon brush offer over the brass/copper ones??
Thanks

Good nylon brushes are plenty strong. The brushes just help break up powder/primer fouling. The right solvent is what eats up the copper fouling. I rarely use brushes, just sometimes, and sparingly.
The patches I use are 1" and 1 1/8" from Sinclair's. Neither are tight with the ProShot jag.

Problem with bore snake is everytime you pull it through, you're just pulling a "dirty" snake through the bore. In other words, the crude you drug out of the bore, you're dragging right back through the bore, over and over.
They might be alright for a quick field cleaning, but for a good bore cleaning, they won't get the job done. As with the clean patch method, you can actually see the progress that your making and can tell when the bore is clean! Can't do that with a bore snake.
