.204 coyote hunters

22-250 w/55vmax @3700 = 93" drift @600 yds
204 w/40vmax @ 3700 = 83" drift @600 yds
I cant understand why people think the 204 or any 20 cal for that matter is no good in the wind. Of course the fast twist with heavy high BC bullets will do better but when you compare apples to apples the 204 will hold its own. JMHO

Hornady has the G1 BC @ .255 for the .224" 55 Vmax, and .275 for the .204" 40Vmax

Bryan Litz from Applied Ballistics has the 22cal @ .234 and the 20cal @ .227

They're still nearly identical downrange for drop/drift, and of course the 204 has about 40% less recoil in the same weight rifle!

I have three 20 P's an AR(don't use it much for hunting preds) a bolt action carbine and a heavy barrel bolt action.

The AR what little I use it isn't a serious coyote rifle. I feed it 34grn Dogtowns and 39gr Speers.

The little carbine thrives on 32gr Nosler HPs, sadly discontinued but have been great on coyotes 200 and under, never tried it farther. I built it to hunt cats and fox but it works fine for coyotes. When my stash of 32s drys up I'm going to give the 35gr Bergers a shot.

The HB rifle lives on a diet of 40gr NBTs, no complaints at all.

I rarely have shots over 200 yards on coyotes, I don't set up for them.

First time posting on predator masters! 204's are great on coyotes. I've killed lots of coyotes with the 204. I loved the 204 when fur was worth something and I still use it. Mostly because I spent a lot of time packing it and putting up coyotes when fur prices were good. Most the time I would never even have to sew. When you start putting up coyotes you figure out real quick where to place your shots so you're not spending time humped up sewing hides. Anyways, 204 is a great round on coyotes. Not as forgiving as most other cartridges of course. The 204 has an application for coyotes, it's a capable cartridge. As for running and gunning at night, there is better options in Calibers out there.
