204 Ruger AR barrels

I currently have a White Oaks Armament varmint barrel on my AR matched to a VLTOR upper. The thing is a tack-driver but it's a pig to carry!
I'm looking into night vision and am looking for a 204 barrel I can use that is lighter, shorter and accurate.
What do you guys use on your 204 Ruger AR's and depending on the twist, what grain bullets do you shoot? I'm used to the 39 grain Blitzkings or 40 grain factory Hornady loads with mine.

I have a Predator Technology Group upper with an 18" barrel. It shoots really well. I have used it with 35 grain Berger's, 39 grain Nosler's, and 40 grain V max. They are all dime size groups at 100 yards.
I'm getting good results with Varget and great results with Bench Mark.
I don't care if I lose a little velocity. Good grief, 3500 fps (+ -) should do any varmint or coyote out to 300 yards.

Not sure but I think they use Wilson Combat barrels on there 204.

Thanks guys, what kind of groups are you getting with those barrels? Are your rifles relatively light for carrying/calling? Do you use collapsable stocks? Magpul PRS stock?

Mine will shoot 3/8" groups and it is relatively light and I use a Magpul CTR stock and LANCER mags you can't use Pmags in a 204 AR. If you wanted it to be a little lighter than use Aero Precision M4E1 upper and the Aero hand guard that goes with it they are 12" long and it only weights 8oz and if you get the Aero scope mount it is 3oz. I have a 18" 6.8 using there stuff and with a 3x9 Leupold it weights 7lbs 6oz

While we will build with whatever barrel a customer requests, Wilson is not our regular barrel. We have our barrels manufactured to our specifications. We offer both 18 and 20in, threaded or target crowned.

My pleasure. Thanks for asking. We love helping our friends in the predator hunting community connect with more fur.

Here is a pic sent to us by a customer that we built a 18in 204 for:

This 18in 204 is built on our billet upper/lower combo, has a mid length hand guard, Limbsaver 10 position stock, Hogue grip, LF3 trigger and has a Nikon 2.5-10 scope mounted on it. It is a great set up for bobcats and foxes.

It is. He wanted a fluted barrel. It is the only Wilson .204 that we have used other than our own.

The other ones that are in the pics are both our barrels.

I'll look into those guys' barrels. I wonder if it'd be worth shortening my white oak barrel & maybe turning it to reduce weight? Or would that mess up the twist to the point that accuracy will suffer? Thanks again for the advice.

You could have it fluted. That would reduce some weight. Shortening your barrel would have no effect on the twist rate.
Personally I would contact Predator Technology Group and ask what they can do for you.
