.204 Ruger Bolt Face

Been a while since I've been here....been travelling a bunch. Mostly downrange. Anyway..I've built several of my own AR's over the last couple years. Mostly 5.56...but also a bad [beeep] 300 BLK SBR with an 8" Noveske barrel. Paid Uncle Sam another 200 bucks to make it quiet too ;-)

So I decided to build a coyote gun in .204 Ruger. I know the mags for a 5.56 will work, but the only thing I'm wondering about is the bolt face. Will a bolt for a 5.56mm/.223 work on a .204?

Thanks.

Recently built an AR .204 too...everything worked fine. Some mags don't work though. I had mine made so ask around on here for help on that issue.

In the .204 AR, I've always had problems using the plastic magazines and some of the cheaper metal ones....I try to find the good old Colt ones at the gun shows or small gun shops...C Products makes a quality magazine in several sizes and they work good as well...

Thanks for the advice. I've got a couple of metal five rounds (don't know what brand) so I can legally hunt coyotes with it. Other than that I've got a variety of magpul, and metal GI issue's that I can try.

I also wonder how important it will be to check headspace on this after I get the barrel put on the upper.... Any advice there?

I wouldn't worried about checking head spacing, or at least I didn't and mine shoots great. I also never changed the buffer spring, I switch from 223 to 204 quite offen using the same lower and bolt for both.
