I just wanted to see if some of you would give me some feedback on this. A friend is getting rid of his M77 and offered it to me for $700. It is high, but it also comes with 300 rounds of ammo and the Burris balitiplex 3-9X40 scope and mounts. IS it still high or a good deal?

thanks

To be honest I haven't priced M77's lately, and not to be a smart azz but a trip to the gun shop or for that matter even a call would probably solve your dilema. The only box of .204 I have ever bought for mine was a few years ago.

Thanks. YOu can get the gun new for just under $700 new. I am not sure of the ammo. It is about $270 dollars worth of ammo.
Seems like a good deal. He takes very good care of his guns.

thanks

I think it is a great deal when you through the scope on top. I have two of those scopes and think they are great. You could not touch that set up new for under a grand. So as long as he has not sent thousands of rounds through it you should be golden.

Well, I got the Ruger on Saturday night took it home worked on the trigger and went Sunday for a shoot. I am sure it can be better, but this is the first time I have shot a rifle other than a 22lr. I have shot a muzzle loader though. Thanks to those that gave me some feedback. I got the gun, scope, J Dewey one piece cleaning rod & jag, 500 rounds of new brass, 50 rds of loaded rounds and a gun case.I think this will hold me off until my .223 upper gets here.

I did some careful polishing and also put a lite spring in. I don't recommend you do this, but right now I have a spring out of a pen in there until I get a chance to get out and get a better one. I didn't cut it off, just compressed it and stuck it in. If I cut it off it would be to lite. Like I said I would highly recommend you don't do this.

I will probably get a blue spring that is lighter and made for the gun or I was looking at one of the springs in the lower of my AR that might work.I will let you know when I get a chance to tinker again.

Depending on what Burris. A lower end one is probably worth $100-$200

If the ammo is Hornady the it would cost you $15-$17 a box. If there are 15 boxes then the ammo is worth at least $225.

So if the ammo and scope is worth $325. Subtract that from $700 and you have $375. DO you think the rifle is worth $375.

If it one of the older M77's then it probably cost about $350 brand new.

I am sure it is worth more than it was 10 or 20 years ago. So the deal is a fair deal, but not a steal. But the rifle would have to be in excellent condition. Tom.
