I finally found some powder.
Varget
4895
4064
I have 40 grn vmax bullets 32 grn vmax and 34 grn midway hp. So how about some favorite loads

Start experimenting check out 204 ruger .com there is a ton of info there about the round. H4895 seems to be a very popular powder for the 204 I have some test loads sitting at home right now to go to the range with.

Several years ago I got those 34 grain HP's to shoot fantastic (much less than a half inch) with 26-26.5 grains of IMR 4064 in my .204 Savage. Unfortunately their BC is poor and they are not the greatest thing for long range shooting. But if all of your shots are 250 yards or less (better yet 200 or less) then they are great. They will really scatter a prairie dog I found out.

my LR204 seems to like the 32gr vmax over varget.

running a little slow for a .204 at only 3719 fps, but it'll have to do for now

gonna see if i can find a nice accurate load with cfe223 this summer and speed them up a bit

I was disappointed mine didn't like any of those (as I had them on hand) nearly as much as Reloader 10X. Under a max charge, mine shoots a 39 SBK right at 3,750. The velocity appears to be surprisingly consistent.

I've owned a few 204's and the powders I have used are Benchmark,H4895,and 8208.I have also used CFE223 but the speeds were down with it.

My go to 204 is a Savage LRPV. Gun really shines with the Sierra 39gr. BK's,CCI BR4's,and either H4895 or 8208.

H4895 is a great powder for almost any bullet with the 204. I found my VLS loved 39gr BK and REM 7 1/2 primers.

However, I did get the 34gr HP to shoot [beeep] good too, but stuck with a little heavier bullets for prairie dogs and coyotes.

I used to lose the ocasional coyote with the 35 gr bergers, but 3 yrs ago my gun smith suggested the 32 gr sierras. Since then I have yet to even have one move after being shot. I'm very happy with them.

Thanks guys. I have some loads put together to try. Now if will stop raining on my days off so that I can do some shooting. Maybe i will find something to post pictures of.
