.204 WSSM?

Would it be possible to make a 204 WSSM? Velocities would go way up and thus most likely breaking 4500 FPS. Ranges would be greatly extended or would the light bullet begin to tumble at such high velocities?

I dont know, I just had the thought in my head and I knew if I didnt post it I would soon forget it.

Anyway, just something to ponder...a 204 WSSM.

look here for info on the 20 br on the 20 cal page

6mm page

the br and ppc style cartridges look very similar to the wssm
style of cartridges squat and fat.Iv'e been thinking about the 6ppc as a varmint/coyote cartridge..may be my next toy
in an eabco 97d rifle or bf pistol.
to get an idea of size here the 20 tactical is a 223 necked down to 20.

I BET THEY BOTH WOULD BE BETTER THEN THE 22 EARGASPLITEN LOUDENBLASTER THAT P.O. ACKLEY BUILT IF YOU LOOK AT HIS BOOKS YOU COULD ATTAIN 5,000FPS BUT YOU COULD ONLY FIRE 2 SHOTS AND THE BARREL WAS SMOKING HOT. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Seems like Angular Velocity would cause some problems with bullet sepperation prior to impacting the target like in the ultra fast 22 chamberings with very light bullets Like a 40 Grain 223 in a 1-7 twist barrel

It would probably be a barrel burner as already stated, and it wouldn't extend your range as far as you might think. Long range is a high BC, heavy bullet game.

It would be fun to try though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I have run 40gr V-max's at 4600 fps out of my .22 TSM/WSSM wildcat. They stayed together and shot really well. I would think you would have a real barrel burner and see no advantage to other calibers. BR version should have a better barrel like and much eaiser to work with. The WSSM brass is the thickest, hardest, stuff I have ever tired to work with! Some folks have to fire-form 2 or 3 times just to blow out correctly for wildcats.
