22-250 1/12 vs 1/14 Twist Help

Bullet length not wieght is the determing factor in twist rate. Your plastic tip bullet are long for there wight compaired to the old style soft, and hollow pionts.

My Rem 700 22-250 shoots 40 gr Rem factory ammo with accuracy less that 1 MOA. My father killed a Utah antelope with a single head shot at 325 with one of my 70gr soft point reloads. Twist - 1:14. I shoot 55 gr Ballistic Tips with accuracy consistently .75 MOA or less. I'd say the 1:14 twist is pretty [beeep] versatile - probably why most 22-250 from major manufacturers have a 1:14 twist.

If I may ask, what is your load for the 60 gr PT?

I use 34.5 grains of Varget. They don't open up too well on coyotes but the end result is the same. DEAD DOG.
