22-250 AICS Magazine Options?

I ended up picking up a Bergara Stoke in 22-250 and I'm pretty happy with it. It also has an M5 bottom metal and I so happen to have a Hawkins Hunter AICS bottom metal laying around the shop. I know MDT has the 10 Round 22-250 AICS magazine but is there also a low profile AICS option for when I don't want to carry 10 rounds? Thank you!

You know, you can email them with product requests. Twice now ive hit them up asking for a flush fit or 5 round 223 poly mag. No luck yet, but cant hurt to ask. My 223 in my mdt chassis is my favorite gun to shoot but would be way better if theyd make a smaller capacity 223 poly mag for it.

Are you talking about MDT or Hawkins? I'm a dealer with MDT and I already talked with them about trying to do a reduced capacity 22-250 and they said it's a no-go. Hawkin's states on their website that their magazines don't work with 22-250 but I did call and leave a voicemail message with them.

Did mdt say why its a no go? Cant imagine theres not a market for reduced capacity 223 / 22-250 for bolt action rifles. If a guy wanted 10-30 rounds, ars and magpul mags are abundant. Id think the guys shooting bolt action 22 centerfire would largely embrace a 5 rnd mag.

They told me they specialize in "tactical" and PRS shooting configurations. Most people in those scenarios want greater capacity not less. They told me they began their venture into more of the hunting style with the HNT 26 but reception so far has been slow. As they see demand for more hunting specific needs they may consider increasing their lineup.

That's what I was told.

Seems silly to me. Ive bought 3 of the hnt26 chassis for my bolt action hunting rifles. Buncha flush fit mags for my 308 and 243. Id gladly buy a pile of flush fit mags for my 223 also. Lotta guys hunt with bolt action 223s. I think maybe their finger isnt quite on the pulse.

I think a lot of it is that tooling, R&D, marketing, and available resources are finite. Couple that with lack of desire and the need to market a new product and we have the reason a lot of products aren't created.

I have been running a couple of Bergara 22-250’s for a few years now. One standard HMR and one Premiere HMR.

SuppressYourself has it right. Both use Bergara standard AICS mags and I also use Magpul 5 round mags without a hitch too. I have a Bergara 10 round that I can only really use 6 reliably and sometimes 7 rounds feed ok.

I usually pack 2 extra 5’s and don’t mess around with the 10 round mag anymore. Ive only sent more than 5 rounds on a stand like twice. Most coyotes aren’t either alive or willing to stick around after 5 anyways!!

That's interesting. I haven't tried a 5 round magazine (or even the MDT 3 round) but of those lower capacity mags work that'd be awesome! My 10 round Magpul will load and feed 4 rounds reliably. Maybe the issue only arises after 4 rounds or so?
