I am just getting started reloading and just got done measuring some once fired remington umc brass. All of the manuals say max length is 1.912 and trim length is 1.902. The length I am getting on my once fired brass is 1.882. Is this right or am I missing something?
Saves you a step in preparation, at least this time.
Depending on how hot you reload, every firing will streach the neck until it reaches the point where it's long enough to need trimming, ie 1.902 to 1.912"
Get the Lee neck size dies (collet dies) and just neck size if your cases are going thru one rifle. This will extend case life a bunch. I anneal my case necks about every fifth firing and that also helps and so will not loading at the very top of the pressure curve. Welcome to reloading spd.
