Hey guys,

Just looking for some input. I was shooting the 50 grain Hornady Superformance last year and they were grouping better than my handloads so I ran them. I was getting dime to nickel sized groups at 100 yards and they were shooting 3860 for velocity. Super accurate but any coyote that I shot within 100 yards I was getting splashes, just spinning that bullet too fast for those impacts.

Curious what you guys think about these bullet selections below and if you have experience running them on coyotes as I have some handloads made up and they shot pretty well.

62 grain ELD VT at 3350 FPS
50 grain Ballistic Tip @ 3600 FPS
60 grain Ballistic Tip @ 3400-3500 FPS

I'm really partial to NBTs on coyotes, 40s at 4000 out of my 9 twist 22-204.

50gr out of a 12 twist 22-240 Ai

Everything else in .224 gets 52gr Speer HP Varmint bullets

Your not chasing fur so I'd be tempted to try the 60gr NBT in that fast a twist.

You don’t need an 8 twist bullet for one of my favorite 22-250 bullets…the 63 grain Sierra. That bullet hammers them! I don’t get splashes but do make a mess at times. Mostly it acts like a game king and penetrates. I am running a bit north of 3450 fps with a 24” barrel and it prints tiny groups.

If sticking to your short list of bullets , Id give the 60 gr BT a try. If it acts anything like the Hornady 60 gr Vmax it’s going to be as effective as anyone could ask for!
