22-250 coyote loads for 1:8 twist

I just purchased a Ruger American Predator 22-250 with 1:8 twist and am looking for recommendations on a good coyote round. I had a 22-250 many years ago and it was a tack driver with Hornady 55gr. Varmint rounds but never shot a coyote further than 100 yards. I bought this new gun for longer shots so not sure how the rounds will hold up at long distances and at impact. Not too concerned about the hides. Thanks in advance.

I'm running 80 grain VDL Burger bullets at 3150fps. Not the most fur Frindle but it hammers them. have got a hand full of them past 600yards, my daughter took a doe at 745 yards with it.

Factory ammo, or are you rolling your own?
If you're not a reloader, you're going to be pretty limited in 'long range' choices for the 22-250, as most factory loads are meant for the more traditional twist rates like 1:14, 1:12. You're stuck with low BC bullets in the 50-60 grain range.

If you're a reloader, I would try the Hornady 75gr ELDM. That's what I've been running in my 8 twist 22 Creedmoor, and it absolutely flattens them. Sometimes it blows some pretty big holes in them, but you said you didn't care about the fur.

Winchester has a 64 gr Soft Point offering. I'm sure there will be more factory offerings one day since everybody is gone crazy for wanting fast twist for the heavies.

What is your "longer shots" definition? with a 50 grain Vmax that will shoot great with an 8 twist you'll be roughly 4 MOA, 1.4Mils at 400. That's a quick easy hold. IF you're going further look at the 62 ELD-VT, better BC, better mid to LR capabilities.

1:8 seems quick for factory bolt action 22-250
You would think but Tikka did it too. An 8 T would make more sense in an AI. I went 22 CM for heavies, building a 22-250 w/ 12 T for 50-60 (52 & 53grainers) and would go 14 T for anything lighter than 50's. Of course, that's just me

If you can find any
Alliant Power Pro 2000 MR
This will be the absolute top powder for that rifle and heavy bullets
In 22 Creedmor and 22 250 in a fast twist barrel.....max speed
accuracy and stability..... I have 32 lbs of it ....

I have a 26" Criterion Barreled 22 250 in an 8 twist ....
The 69 Gr Sierra TMK are wicked accurate and fast !
75 GR ELD Match are also saweet ....

The 62 GR ELD VT will definitely give you speed...and they are very high BC
so if you can make a load that groups great with them ...go for it..
They are unique in the way they allow you to get those 22 250 speeds
due to low weight ...but they act like a heavy due to their profile .....long
and require a fast twist barrel...

Stick with a fast burning powder for them like an H380 etc...
definitely worth looking into ....as You may be used to the old school
lighter bullets and can't due to the fast twist ....it's a neat middle ground solution.

A Hornady 60 Gr Vmax next to the 62 Gr ELD VT
