22-250 coyote loads for 1:8 twist

On a more serious note , I have been using a 9 twist 22-250 for a while now. There aren’t many hunting bullets heavier than 65 grain and that was my intention. A Sierra 65 grain GK. I still haven’t gotten there because I loaded up some Sierra 63 grain bullets and they shoot so well and are doing the job on coyotes too. My thought on the 22-250 is if you want heavier than a 69 grain bullet go with a more suitable 22 or step up in caliber.

A 9 twist is a nice in between ..who made that barrel ?
It's like fads ..the fad now is fast twist barrels and heavier bullets .

Me I'm a speed freak ..I love the impact as soon as you touch off that round.
That pop ! and explosive results ..
I guess my 220 swift and 22 250 had spoiled me through the 80s and 90s
The 22 250 has the capacity to move these heavier bullets along nicely
only thing bigger I have is the creedmor ...

You are correct I don't plan on loading any heavier for my 22 250 than
a 69 gr ... and it's a 8 twist 26 " Criterion barrel with a FPM Precision Break
a Timney Trigger , GA Precision Remmy Action in an Accuracy International Chassis
A real Dream of a rig...

That lil 62 Gr ELD VT is next I'm gonna work up some loads ..it's new
and I have yet to get a chance to make a pet load for it ..

I have a BIG Ol drum of W760 I bought back in 94 and Id better use it
before it peters out .. I suppose that's best for the 69 GR

The lil 62 ...hmmm ? I still have some 4064 and a new 8lb of Superformance
Ill try ..

My 9 twist 22-250’s are Bergara rifles. I have both standard and premier HMR’s. 24” barrels and I am getting a solid 3,450 average in the winter months plus nickel sized 5 shot groups. Plenty of speed for that “pop” we all want to hear!

What is your "longer shots" definition? with a 50 grain Vmax that will shoot great with an 8 twist you'll be roughly 4 MOA, 1.4Mils at 400. That's a quick easy hold. IF you're going further look at the 62 ELD-VT, better BC, better mid to LR capabilities.
What kind of speed have you been getting out of the 50gr vmax out of the 18" barrel? And do you see any big advantage when using the 62gr ELD-VT as far as killing power goes specifically so far? It's 400yd and in for me. Generally it's more like 250yd and in, but there are the occasional hang-ups.

I just purchased a Ruger American Predator 22-250 with 1:8 twist and am looking for recommendations on a good coyote round. I had a 22-250 many years ago and it was a tack driver with Hornady 55gr. Varmint rounds but never shot a coyote further than 100 yards. I bought this new gun for longer shots so not sure how the rounds will hold up at long distances and at impact. Not too concerned about the hides. Thanks in advance.
Can I ask where you purchased from? Ruger says it's a 1 in 10" Doesn't look like the Gen II's are available in 22-250. Mine has the 10" twist and I bought the Bergara with the 9" twist. Would love a factory 8" twist.

I don't know about current models, but if this is a used gun, Ruger made those rifles specifically for Whittaker Guns back in 2017.
