22-250 Info

As much as it pains me to say it, just do a 22 Crapmore......
As much as I've always been a fan of the 22-250 if I ever rebarreled mine a 22 CM is exactly what I'd go with. Multiple sources for top notch brass and the boost in performance is almost like it's free so why not take it. The only real downside is if you don't reload I'm not sure there's many options for factory ammo.

I bought a bunch of .22-250 Lapua brass(400) a number of years ago. But I kind of painted myself into a corner. I had just rebarreled a .22-250 Remington to .22-250 Ackley. So I fireformed all the brass. I wish I had put some aside in standard .22-250. But I do have plenty of Lapua Ackley brass for a few Ackley builds.šŸ˜‰

The 22_250 , I'm my opinion is the single best cartridge for varmints, coyotes.
You can load it down or hop it up.
Cheap vmax for little stuff, Sierra game kings for coyotes, antelope, deer.
+1 for this. I loved my 22-250 AI for the same reason. I now run a Swift, but wouldn’t ever shy away from a 250. Mainly, for this exact reason.

Plenty of horsepower for many different applications. And it’s like the Chevy 1500 with a 5.3 motor, the parts and accessories are endless

A 22-250 AI and a 22 CM have gotta be dang close in capacity, right? It would make sense in my mind anyway.. Close enough that I don’t think there would be a nickels worth of difference.

I think they're really close to the same case capacity and performance. The biggest difference between the two is one requires fireforming while the other doesn't and brass availability right now certainly favors the Creedmoor.

I have a 6 & 6.5 creeds. Just don't care for the route Hornady and Horizon set things up for the 22 C. My gut says Hornady did it that way so they can push the 22 ARC.

Coondog, I have (2) 22-250AI and formed all of my brass with 243 Winchester brass. It's not a quick process but can be done. my point is if you cannot find 250 brass go with the 250AI and use 243 brass.

Here is my 22-250 posing with a coyote I got yesterday morning. Belinda (My rifle) believes she is a firearm super model. Range finder said 186 yards. Came in to prairie dog in distress. For some reason this call seems to be really working lately. I have no idea why. There are no prairie dogs where I live in Montana.

You could also do a 22-243 if you don't care for the 22CM and finding 22-250 brass is an issue. A straight necked down 22-243 would be easy peasy and have the same case capacity or more then 22-250AI or 22 Creed.
