What size primer does the 22-250 use, small or large rifle primer? Any loading suggestions?
Funny each rifle is of it's own what works in one might not in another many things factor in that's the art of reloading. Are u doing it for fun accuracy or economy. Always remember. That no matter what your looking to do the more u improve effincy accuracy temp and all the physics. The best if to look at everything and tweak it til u have as good as you can get. Then stick with what u got to and duplicate it. And as far as the bullet to the lands it's what the rifle is best with remember start low and seat it till u loose accuracy or have pressure signs and don't go over those pressure warnings . Have fun all and be safe.I was just able to get my 22-250 to shoot after really fighting with it for several months. My best group was with this load:
Remington brass
CCI-200 primers (I want to try the CCI BR's)
36 grains of Varget
52 grain Sierra BTHP
Loading them 0.010" off of the lands.
H-380 is a good choice for powder, but I hear it is kind of dirty.
Depending on the rifle and especially the rate of twist will make the difference on the grain of bullet that it will like; my Rem700 is 1:14" and will not digest anything over 53 grains giving me the accuracy that I demand; and seems to dislike Hornady's for some reason. I got good sub MOA groups out of Berger (35.5 grains of Varget), and even sub MOA out of the Hornady's, but they were a full 1/2" of a wider spread than the Sierra's. Hope this helps.
OH! Moly coated bullets are a pain (JMO).
