I was thinking about buying this die so I can neck size only. But will this die bump the shoulder back with out full length resizing? Its item number 544231.

A Neck Sizing Die does exactly that and only that. It resizes the neck and NOTHING ELSE. You need to use a FL Die or a combination of a Body Die and Competition Shells Holders that have a measured bumping capability. The Match Grade bunch use FL Dies for resizng the body of the casing and Competition Neck Dies for the neck. And I truly mean no offense, but I have no idea what your purpose is in a 22-250, but it is NOT a Match Grade Shooting caliber for competitions. It is great for hunting though.

Probably wouldn't hurt if you gave some more information...

... like "Who's" item number it was - who makes it, what die it is (Redding and Forster make lots of 22-250 necksize dies)... what catalogue or website?

Its made by Hornady. its just some of the brass is kinda tight and I wanna bump the shoulder back without fl resizing.

The Hornady die is just a necksize die - it will not touch the shoulder.

You will need to use a FL die in order to move the shoulder.

If you want to size the neck and bump the shoulder, without sizing the body, get one of these:

But, at ~$80, you can buy a lot of new brass and still have money left over - here is how it works.

The 22-250 is not a fussy case to load - I have three hundred 22-250 cases that have been through 5 rifles and are now just starting on their sixth rifle - that's more than 30 loadings each.

If you are having negative headspace problems, there is a problem somewhere.

After 3-4 loadings, one HAS TO bump the shoulder back on almost all factory chambered rifles as the case will not chamber easily or at all completely.

You typically need a FL die to bump the shoulder back - but back only 1-2 thousandths - so it will again chamber easily in your respective rifle.

In the meantime, you can set also st up [adjust] a FL die in your press so it acts like a neck die i.e. it only sizes the neck; then later re-adjust it in your press to full length size the shoulder back 1-2 thousandths say at the 4th, 8th, 12th reload etc.

In hunting i.e. non-custom chambers, a neck die seldom makes a huge accuracy difference, and one will need a FL die eventually to move a shoulder back.

I don't have that problem, and I shoot a lot. I once, when I was reloading at the range, decided to reload a 308 case until it failed - I neck sized it and quit just after I hit 46 reloads - I NEVER had any problem chambering the case.

If you are having problems chambering a case after 3 or 4 reloads, you are doing something wrong.
