Looking at a 22-250 Sako stainless with wood stock and heavy barrel. Anyone have one? Is this a good performing rifle? Please weigh in on the subject. Thanks Rudy

Are you stuck on sako? Looking through the Zander's catalog I see tikka t3 varmints are back in country. The stainless 22-250 is $816. The barrels are made by the same place I've heard. And Beretta owns them. I've been unable to find anything negative about these really. Probably get one for under $900 from a dealer. Just another thought for you, since the barrels are the same. And that's the heart of any rifle. But if you found a local sako, and you like it grab it. Everyone knows sako is a great rifle. What model sako is that? Im guessing an 85 sts, I'm really liking these guns.

I don' have the heavy barrel but have purchased 3 Sako .22-250 cal. in wood stainless. Two of them had a magazine feeding reliability issue and Beretta fixed it promptly. They have been great rifles and my go to gun.
Some heavy varmint models have the set trigger at about 8 oz.
I have also purchased several Tikka .22-250 in stainless and blue that perform nicely.
Both are good but the Sako models portray the extra cost.

I don't know of any Sako owners, including myself, that regret their purchase. In general Sakos are noted for their accuracy.

One comment regarding Sako vs. Tikka barrels... they are indeed made in the same factory on some of the same equipment but they are not made to the same specifications nor finished the same. They are no more the same than a M700 barrel is to a 40-X.

I love mine.... AII action, Pac-Nor barrel, .22-250.. It has always fed smooth as silk and it always performs.. When I have to re barrel it I will definitely get a 1-8" twist though...

The more I consider it. I think if they still have the gun I will get it. I heard that the clips have had some trouble with feeding problems from time to time. I thought it had a neat little clip so I hope it will feed nicely. Rudy
